For the safety of our drivers, the public, and to comply with UK law, RihlaTransit cannot transport certain items. This policy explains what you must not send and the consequences of doing so.
By booking with us, you confirm that your parcel does not contain any prohibited items listed in this policy.
2. Strictly Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly prohibited and will not be transported under any circumstances:
Illegal Items
- Illegal drugs and controlled substances
- Stolen goods
- Counterfeit and illicit goods
- Any item prohibited by UK law
Weapons & Explosives
- Firearms, guns, and ammunition
- Knives and bladed weapons
- Explosives and fireworks
- Military weapons and equipment
Hazardous Materials
- Flammable liquids and gases
- Toxic and poisonous substances
- Corrosive chemicals and acids
- Radioactive materials
- Biological hazards
- Lithium batteries (loose cells, damaged)
Living Things
- Live animals (unless agreed in writing)
- Human or animal remains
- Live plants (unless agreed)
Other Prohibited Items
- Cash, currency, and negotiable instruments
- Precious stones and metals (unless declared)
- Original identity documents (passports, licenses)
- Perishable food items (unless agreed)
3. Restricted Items
The following items may be transported only with prior written agreement and may require additional packaging, insurance, or fees:
Fragile Items
- Glassware and ceramics
- Electronics and screens
- Artwork and antiques
- Musical instruments
- Note: Must be properly packaged and marked "FRAGILE"
High-Value Items
- Jewellery and watches
- Designer goods
- Electronics over £500
- Note: Must declare value and consider additional insurance
Medical Items
- Prescription medicines (with documentation)
- Medical equipment
- Laboratory samples
- Note: Must comply with medical transport regulations
Alcohol & Tobacco
- Alcohol (within legal limits)
- Tobacco products
- Note: Subject to age verification and duty regulations
Batteries
- Lithium-ion batteries (in equipment)
- Power banks
- Note: Must be properly packaged and declared
4. Packaging Requirements
Proper packaging is essential for safe transport. All parcels must be:
- Securely sealed: Using strong tape on all edges
- Properly cushioned: With bubble wrap or packing material
- Appropriately boxed: Sturdy cardboard box, correct size
- Clearly labelled: With correct addresses and handling instructions
- Marked if fragile: "FRAGILE" or "HANDLE WITH CARE"
Important: We are not liable for damage caused by inadequate packaging.
5. Consequences of Sending Prohibited Items
If you send prohibited items, we may:
- Refuse the booking: Before collection
- Stop the delivery: If discovered during transit
- Return the item: To the sender at your cost
- Dispose of the item: Safely, without compensation
- Report to authorities: If illegal items are discovered
- Terminate your account: For serious violations
- Charge additional fees: For handling and disposal
You may also be liable for any resulting damages or legal costs.
6. Your Responsibility
As the sender, you are responsible for:
- Checking the contents: Before booking
- Declaring restricted items: At the time of booking
- Proper packaging: To prevent damage
- Accurate information: About the parcel contents
- Complying with UK law: All applicable regulations
RihlaTransit reserves the right to inspect any parcel before or during transport.
7. Pre-Booking Checklist
Before booking, please confirm:

- ✅ Any restricted items have been declared
- ✅ My parcel is properly packaged
- ✅ I have declared the correct value
- ✅ I have included correct sender and recipient details
- ✅ I understand the liability limits
